Five suspects were arrested near Royal Air Force Base Fairford in the Cotswolds after a farmer reported three suspicious vehicles travelling towards the military installation around 1am. The base has been used by US forces in strikes against Iran, and investigators are examining whether this was the motivation for the suspected terror plot. Eighty-five homes were evacuated due to fears explosives could flatten the village, with bomb disposal equipment brought in and counter-terrorism police leading the investigation.
