El Niño eventually ends. But some of what it changes may not. Across the reliable record, only three El Niño events have been extreme enough to qualify as “super.” New research suggests all three were associated with lasting shifts in parts of the ocean and land — changes that did not simply disappear when the Pacific returned to normal. Scientists call them regime shifts. The reason matters now because the biggest effects of a Super El Niño can arrive after the ocean itself has already begun cooling. Global temperatures lag behind, ecosystems remain stressed, and systems already close to a threshold may be pushed into a new state. In this documentary, we examine how El Niño builds beneath the Pacific, why its heat arrives late, which regions failed to fully recover after previous events, and why the Amazon may be especially vulnerable. The winter is only the beginning. -- DISCUSSIONS & SOCIAL MEDIA Commercial Purposes: insanecuriositybusiness@gmail.com Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.co
