Five men have been arrested on suspicion of explosives and terrorism offences after UK police intercepted three suspicious vans en route to RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, a US military base housing long-range bombers involved in targeting Iran. The base had raised its threat level to Delta, the highest possible level, approximately one week prior to the arrests. Local residents near the base have been evacuated and will not be able to return to their homes until at least the following day.
