Five men have been arrested near RAF Fairford after police received a report of three suspicious vehicles travelling towards the airbase. They were initially held on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act and were later also arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. Counter Terrorism Policing is leading the investigation. Army bomb disposal specialists examined the vehicles, while around 85 nearby households were evacuated as a precaution. The base is used by US forces, and investigators are still working to establish the full circumstances. The discussion focuses on how the vehicles were reported, the police response and what remains unknown about the men’s intentions. Ian Collins speaks with Charlie Rowley, former government special adviser. Have you got a story?
