A major avalanche has struck the base camp of Himlung Himal in Nepal’s Manang district, leaving 14 people missing as rescue teams search through heavy snow and difficult weather conditions. Two bodies have been recovered from the avalanche site, while a 14-member rescue team has been deployed to locate the missing high-altitude workers and guides. The avalanche hit the 7,126-metre Himlung Himal area on Sunday as workers were preparing the base camp ahead of the autumn climbing season. Heavy snowfall and persistent rain had already affected Nepal’s mountain regions, creating dangerous conditions for climbers and rescue teams. Helicopter operations have also faced challenges because of poor visibility and weather. Firstpost brings you the latest updates from the Himlung Himal avalanche tragedy, the ongoing search operation and the latest developments from Nepal. --- Himlung Himal Avalanche | Nepal Avalanche | Everest Region | Himlung Himal | 14 Missing | Two Bodies Recovered | Nepal Re
