Wall Street Journal foreign correspondent Evan Gershkovich joins Jon Stewart to talk about his new memoir, “This Cursed Beautiful Land: A Russian-American Story.” Gershkovich, who spent 16 months imprisoned in Russia on false espionage charges, breaks down how a source, a second meeting, and a Putin pep talk to the FSB landed him in Russian prison. He discusses growing up in a Russian-speaking home, what drew him to reporting in Russia, life pre-imprisonment, and how he ultimately became a bargaining chip in a Putin-led prisoner swap scheme. He also weighs in on what a post-Putin Russia might look like and the totalitarian warning signs he sees in the U.S. #DailyShow #EvanGershkovich #Russia #Espionage #Democracy Subscribe to The Daily Show: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwWhs_6x42TyRM4Wstoq8HA/?sub_confirmation=1 Follow The Daily Show: Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDailyShow Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thedailyshow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailyshow Str
