Over several weeks Four Corners reporter Steve Cannane requested interviews with key figures in One Nation – no-one was available. After we sent a series of detailed questions to the party, a One Nation media adviser said responding would be a waste of time. Four Corners was also denied access to a One Nation press conference in Melbourne. When Senator Hanson was introducing her new leader in New South Wales, Cannane decided to wait until the cameras were rolling and snuck in. He asked Senator Hanson about the party’s preselections in Victoria and the party constitution that effectively makes her ‘president for life’.
