Everywhere I look, stores are selling brand-new pieces made to look as though they’ve been collected over time. It reminds me a little of what happened when modern farmhouse decor became popular. So I went to the thrift stores to see what I could find for less. Come along as I look for traditional artwork, animal figurines, brass and metal decor, candleholders, china, glassware, pottery, lamps, and pieces that would look right at home in an old-fashioned library. I’ll show you what I brought home and how I styled it. I’m certainly not saying you should never buy something new—I bought an adorable duck pillow at Hobby Lobby! I just think it’s worth checking the thrift stores before paying retail for something made to look vintage. Sometimes the real thing is still sitting on the shelf.
