Nigel Farage has defended Reform UK's record in charge of the party's flagship local authority - Durham County Council - following an investigation by Sky's The Cathy Newman Show. In Cathy's investigation, she spoke to about a dozen current and former councillors who had quit the party and painted a chaotic picture inside the authority. In an interview with Sky's political correspondent Rob Powell, Farage said: "I think actually if you look at what they've done in Durham, if you look at the council tax rises and many other things, I think they're bedding in well. You get some people aren't happy with it. Well, that's life." He added: "I really don't know the ins and outs of Durham as to what's happened and why. What I do know is we're running a lot of councils all over the country. We've managed to produce, after the first year, lower council tax rises than the other parties, and no one ever said local government was easy. It's not."
