Five suspects arrested over the alleged RAF Fairfield bomb plot have been released on bail, as counter-terror police continue to investigate. Associate Editor of the Daily Mirror Kevin Maguire believes the government should tell the public whether the incident was terrorism or not, adding, “conspiracies fill a vacuum”. Meanwhile, Andy Burnham is reportedly considering scrapping the pension triple lock to fund his plans for social care. The prime minister is expected to address the issue in his speech at the Labour Party conference, but some unions have warned against the move and there are fears it could divide the Labour Party. Former Conservative cabinet member Michael Gove says Burnham “can’t turn this into a winning message”, adding that he is “playing with fire”.
