Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Monday that Tehran was still awaiting an official response from Washington on its proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and restart nuclear negotiations, despite President Donald Trump publicly rejecting the offer as unacceptable. Speaking to Iranian state television on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Araghchi said Iran's seven-point proposal, conveyed through a Qatari mediator, included conditions such as lifting the US naval blockade, waiving sanctions on Iranian oil exports and securing a ceasefire extending to Lebanon. He said Qatari mediators met with Iranian officials again on Monday to discuss ways to advance the proposal before presenting it to American counterparts, with a final US response expected within a day.
