Reports from Yemen claim that Ansar Allah, also known as the Houthis, has taken control of a new airbase on Mayyun Island in the strategically important Bab al-Mandab Strait. Footage released by Al-Masirah reportedly shows journalists entering the airbase, while separate intelligence-related claims have pointed to a possible covert foreign military facility in the area. The reports have renewed attention on Mayyun Island and its strategic position along a major international shipping route connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden. However, details regarding the reported foreign military facility, including its identity, exact location and operational status, have not been independently established. The development comes amid continued security concerns surrounding maritime traffic and military activity around the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab. #Yemen #MayyunIsland #BabAlMandab #Houthis #AnsarAllah #RedSea #GulfOfAden #MaritimeSecurity #YemenNews #MiddleEast #Shipping #BreakingNews
