Curbless Shower Framing is easier in older homes 👍 Most of the time you have plenty of height to build up the floor outside of the shower. I do recommend using a 3/4" CDX plywood for longevity and ability to change flooring some day down the road. OSB is super strong and is good as well, but most likely will need replaced if tile is ever to change. Not that you are thinking of changing things after all this work 😆 In this scenario we are preparing a 1" height difference from shower area to main bathroom floor. This will allow our main bathroom subfloor to be even with a 1" Thin Tray Schluter Pan (3' x 4') https://amzn.to/4z89P2Y We are adding both 1/4" x 3/4" furring strips to top of joists on outside floor to achieve this Check out this video for preparation of a curbless shower with recessing the plywood in the shower area (Using 3/8" furring strips + 3/4" plywood on main bath floor) https://youtu.be/Vm0rLLTAVqk 👉 Enroll in a Bathroom Remodeling Course - www.bathroomremodel
