Senator John Kennedy confronted former Special Counsel Jack Smith during a heated Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on September 29, 2026, over Smith’s past investigations involving Donald Trump. Kennedy sharply questioned Smith about the reported use of subpoenas to obtain Senate lawmakers’ “toll records” during the January 6 investigation, including call metadata such as timestamps, durations and locations. Smith defended the investigation, saying his team sought non-content toll records rather than the actual contents of communications and denied knowingly violating constitutional protections under the Speech or Debate Clause. The exchange escalated when Kennedy challenged Smith over non-disclosure orders and abruptly declared his disgust, creating one of the most tense moments of the hearing. #JohnKennedy #JackSmith #SenateHearing #SenateJudiciaryCommittee #JackSmithHearing #JohnKennedyVsJackSmith #TrumpInvestigation #DonaldTrump #January6Investigation #SenateJudiciary #Cong
