The education system is a mill, and its product has just been made worthless. Generative AI now does — faster and better — nearly everything schools spend fifteen years drilling into children: the recall, the formulas, the essays, the credentials. We are still marching students through an assembly line built for a world that no longer exists. So a brutal question remains: when the machine can do it all, what is actually left worth learning? This talk argues we must tear up the blueprint. Start with the child and expand outward — through the neighborhood, the region, the planet, and back and forth in time — so that learning is anchored in the real, messy world the child lives in, not a syllabus written in some distant center. The skill that survives is the human one: navigating complexity that no model can hand you. And AI, far from the threat we're scrambling to control, becomes the most powerful companion for the adventure at hand. Stop preparing children for life. Let school be life
