South Africans marched through Durban demanding stronger action against gender-based violence and femicide after 11 women’s bodies were found in Ekurhuleni since July. Demonstrators criticised the government’s response and called for tougher measures as police managed the march. The protest was organised by March and March, a movement that also campaigns against undocumented immigration. President Cyril Ramaphosa has called the violence a national shame.
