French President Emmanuel Macron and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez welcomed the possibility of Britain eventually rejoining the European Union after UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said his government would consider options ranging from closer ties to full EU membership. Speaking in Madrid, Sánchez described Brexit as a major loss for Britain and Europe, while Macron said a British return would be good news but warned that the UK could not selectively choose which parts of the EU it wanted. Burnham has said ministers will examine the options and their advantages and disadvantages as Britain reviews its long-term relationship with the bloc. The UK voted 52% to 48% to leave the EU in 2016 and formally exited in January 2020. #brexit, #brexitbacktrack, #brexitreversal, #uk, #unitedkingdom, #europeanunion, #eu, #ukpolitics, #and yburnham, #macron, #emmanuelmacron, #pedrosanchez, #france, #spain, #europe, #ukeu, #eumembership, #brexitnews, #worldnews, #breakingnews In this Times No
