Prime Minister Andy Burnham said a closer relationship with Europe would be "better" as he criticised Brexit for stalling UK growth. Burnham said leaving the European Union had harmed UK growth, and it was only through forging a closer relationship with the bloc, particularly at this time of global volatility, that the UK's economy could return to pre-Brexit levels. The prime minister said he would not rush towards any options for a future relationship with Brussels, but added the relationship could not be ignored in his 10-year plan. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@itvnews?lang=en Follow ITV News on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on X: https://twitter.com/itvnews
