Italian farmers blocked part of the Via Aurelia north of Rome with tractors, protesting rising diesel prices and production costs as fuel costs remain elevated amid geopolitical tensions and supply disruptions. Farmers from areas including Fiumicino, Cerveteri, Ladispoli and Anguillara joined the mobilisation, with protesters pouring milk onto the road and displaying banners including “Fuel prices are rising for everyone” and “25 euros for 100 kg of wheat.” Farmers said high fuel costs were worsening long-standing pressures on the agricultural sector, while some warned that farms were closing as production expenses outpaced returns. One protester said, “We are sick and tired of the war,” while another warned that the government must listen to farmers. Italian authorities have taken measures to contain fuel costs, including temporary tax cuts, while energy companies have introduced price caps. #italy, #italianfarmers, #farmersprotest, #romeprotest, #italyprotest, #fuelcrisis, #dieselp
