Smit Machchhar, has been hailed as a hero after helping save 174 passengers during a terrifying cockpit attack. Machchhar was reportedly stabbed by his fellow pilot, allegedly as the Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight plunged nearly 14,000 feet in under 30 seconds. Despite suffering serious injuries and lying bloodied on the cockpit floor, Machchhar managed to release the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to enter and overpower the attacker. The aircraft eventually landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, where Machchhar is receiving medical treatment. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised his courage, saying his actions helped avert a major tragedy.
