An immigration judge in Wisconsin has ruled that the president of the state's largest mosque can be deported. Salah Sarsour was arrested by immigration agents in March and held for more than 80 days in an Indiana jail. Sarsour came to the United States in 1993 and has been a legal resident of Milwaukee for over 32 years. He grew up in the occupied West Bank and was detained by ICE agents in March. The Department of Homeland Security claims Sarsour was arrested for lying on his green card application about a conviction in Israeli military courts when he was a teenager, but Sarsour’s lawyers say he is being targeted by the federal government over his advocacy for Palestinian rights.
