amil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay launched the expanded Vetri Payanam scheme in Chennai on October 2. The scheme extends no fare travel for women and transgender persons to additional government bus services, including Express, Limited Stop Service, Deluxe and eligible mofussil and ghat buses. The expanded scheme covers 12,692 government buses across Tamil Nadu and is expected to benefit around 84.32 lakh women every day.
