What happens when who you are becoming no longer matches who people expect you to be? Drawing from his own struggle, Uy Long explores the necessary transition of growing up. This talk reframes the confusion of growing up, not as a loss of identity, but as rebuilding who you truly are. GROWING UP has never felt simple for me. Like many other teenagers, I’m still quite childish at some moments, still trying to discover myself and let alone the uncertainty of the future. But through my experiences growing up of the expectations and comparisons that often come with adolescence, I began to see myself in ways I had never expected. This is my take on how the world extends beyond the expectations placed upon us. And sometimes, becoming yourself requires the courage to stand back up again and again This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
