Russia may be adapting its long-range Geran drones with a 40-kilogram shaped-charge warhead capable of penetrating reinforced steel and concrete, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said, citing claims from Ukrainian defence-technology adviser Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov. The assessment comes after repeated Russian strikes on Kyiv’s Southern Bridge, which disrupted traffic and prompted the closure of key crossings. ISW said Russian forces may be seeking to inflict cumulative damage on vulnerable structural points, but stressed that the exact warhead used against the Southern Bridge remains unclear. Russian military bloggers have made conflicting claims about whether the new warhead was used against the bridge or power infrastructure. ISW said such drone adaptations could enable more precise repeated attacks against difficult-to-destroy infrastructure. #russia, #ukraine, #kyiv, #kyivbridge, #southernbridge, #russiaukrainewar, #ukrainewar, #geran, #drones, #russiandrones, #warhead, #
