New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James give an update on the investigation into an alleged 2024 sexual assault at Cornell University. Hochul appointed James and the New York Attorney General’s Office as special prosecutor after saying newly released information had raised serious questions about the original investigation and undermined confidence in the local district attorney’s handling of the case. The investigation was initially closed without criminal charges but was reopened last month after the woman at the centre of the case filed a civil lawsuit. James will oversee the investigation and, if warranted, prosecute offenses and present evidence to a grand jury. Cornell has also agreed to an independent review of its handling of the allegations. --- Cornell University | Cornell Sexual Assault Case | Letitia James | Kathy Hochul | Cornell Investigation | Special Prosecutor | New York Attorney General | Cornell Sexual Assault Probe | New York Politics |
