Ferran Torres has withdrawn from Spain’s squad for the upcoming Nations League matches after experiencing discomfort in his left ankle. The Paris Saint-Germain forward had been training with the national team in recent days, but the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed on Friday that Torres has been released from the squad to prioritise his recovery. Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has called up Carlos Espi as Torres’ replacement. The Real Madrid youngster earned his opportunity after an impressive outing for Spain Under-21s, scoring five goals and providing two assists in their 13-0 victory over San Marino. Spain now face the Czech Republic in Oviedo on October 3 before travelling to Croatia for their next Nations League fixture on October 6.
