A teenage driver who allegedly crashed into a group of NRL supporters in Newcastle yesterday has not applied for bail after appearing in court today. Police allege the 18-year-old lost control of his vehicle on Newcastle Link Road, before ploughing into the crowd of Knights fans who were gathering to farewell their team. Ten people were hospitalised, including a five-year-old girl and a 67-year-old man who were the most seriously injured. The teenager has been charged with a string of offences, including dangerous driving, negligent driving causing bodily harm, and causing bodily harm by misconduct.
