The Australian dream hasn’t disappeared. But the price of reaching it has changed dramatically. Young Australians are earning more than previous generations did, but housing has moved even faster. Deposits take longer to save. Rent takes a bigger chunk of your income. And more young Aussies are staying at home because getting that first foot on the property ladder has become incredibly difficult. I don’t think the answer is telling young people to work harder or stop buying coffee. We need to address the structural problem underneath all of this. Australia needs MORE HOMES. That means making it easier, faster and more economically viable to actually build them. Because when housing demand keeps growing faster than supply, the people without property are the ones constantly chasing a moving target. This isn’t just about today’s property prices.
