As Kenya braces for the anticipated El Niño rains, residents are being urged to take precautionary measures to protect their families from flooding and waterborne diseases. Speaking during the Jamii Imara Mashinani engagement in Kasarani, in Nairobi, Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni called on Kenyans to prepare early by observing proper food hygiene and ensuring access to safe drinking water. Muthoni warned that flooding often contaminates water sources, increasing the risk of disease outbreaks, and stressed the need for households to treat water before consumption and handle food safely. Nairobi North County Commissioner Simon Asumba, said authorities are on high alert and have mapped out flood prone areas.
