Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters have begun a long march towards Islamabad, demanding the release of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The march is being led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, with protesters gathering in Dera Ismail Khan as the party calls for a peaceful demonstration. The march comes amid heightened tensions between the PTI and the Pakistan government, with strict security measures in place and Section 144 imposed in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Islamabad has deployed armoured personnel carriers and bomb disposal squads, while the Centre has warned of imposing Governor’s Rule or an emergency in the province. The march was initially announced for September 27 but was postponed to October 4 amid talks with the government.
