This year’s Kennedy Center Honors will take place at Washington, D.C.’s Capital One Arena rather than at the famous arts venue. Officials provided no official reason for the change, but it comes amid a legal battle over adding President Donald Trump’s name to the building. The center’s pro-Trump board voted last month to shut down the venue, and the administration at one point floated plans to demolish it. Capital One Arena is home to the city’s NBA and NHL teams. This year’s honors are scheduled for early December, and a spokesperson said honorees will be named at a later date. Watch PBS News for daily, breaking and live news, plus special coverage.
