What exactly happened inside the cockpit of flydubai Flight FZ1073? An AI-generated visual recreation attempts to reconstruct the terrifying sequence aboard the Dubai-Tel Aviv flight — from the moments before Indian Captain Smit Machchhar was attacked, to the aircraft's dramatic plunge, the desperate attempt to open the cockpit door, passengers and crew rushing in, and the eventual recovery of the aircraft. Captain Machchhar has since given a detailed account of the attack, saying the flight had been normal before the co-pilot asked to pray. Minutes later, he said, he was struck repeatedly from behind. Injured and with blurred vision, Machchhar eventually managed to open the cockpit door, allowing others to intervene. Flight-tracking data independently showed an extraordinary rapid descent during the incident; Reuters subsequently recreated the plunge in a simulator.
