Proposed under-16 social media restrictions have sparked a debate over children’s safety, adults’ privacy and whether parents should be held responsible for their children’s online activity. Jennifer Powers, founder and director of Unplugged Coalition, joins Julia Hartley-Brewer to warn about the damage addictive technology can cause, saying: “We’re actually lobotomising a generation of children.” Julia questions whether age checks could undermine online privacy and asks whether parents should face prosecution if their children use banned platforms. Jennifer also cautions that restricting under-16 accounts would not necessarily stop children accessing content, urging parents not to assume the problem is solved. #socialmedia #socialmediaban #onlinesafety Have you got a story?
