Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK, yet research shows that 40% have never spoken to anyone about their mental health. Tom Kelly knows this all too well after his second son was born prematurely at 28 weeks, and Tom struggled to cope while caring for his family and dealing with work pressures. He continued “cracking on”, but eventually reached breaking point in 2022 and planned to take his own life. After saying goodbye to his boys, Tom heard his eldest say, “Hi Daddy,” which gave him the clarity he needed. Tom realised other men were also struggling, so he created CLRTY, an online mental health community for men. Tom joins us to share his story alongside Dr Zoe.
