The Pentagon said on Sunday, Oct. 4 that all US bombers deployed at RAF Fairford in Britain had returned to their home stations in the United States. It did not give a reason for the move or link it to the recent security incident near the base. British police launched a counterterrorism investigation after three suspicious vehicles were reported heading toward the base on Sept. 27. Five men were arrested and later released on bail, and police said no explosives were found. Britain alleged possible Iranian involvement, while Iran rejected the allegation as baseless.
