This video is an excerpt from The Hindu documentary Gandhi for Gen Z: The Mahatma is suddenly cool again. In this clip, Tushar Gandhi reflects on a new generation of activists who embraced sit-ins, hunger strikes and non-violent protest without formally studying Mahatma Gandhi's political philosophy. He recalls his initial scepticism about the movement, compares it with earlier protest movements, and explains why he ultimately saw echoes of Gandhi's methods in the way young people organised and mobilised. For Tushar Gandhi, the most striking aspect was that protesters seemed to instinctively adopt principles of peaceful resistance, civic responsibility and moral courage that Gandhi practised throughout India's freedom struggle.
