Middlesbrough is a town in shock. In August a tragic incident brought national attention to the grip that organised crime has on communities there. PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough were killed when their police car was hit by a vehicle travelling the wrong way down the A66. The five young men in the vehicle also died. Cleveland Police said that all five may have had links to “serious and organised criminal activity” and four of them had previous convictions. But even before August's crash, and the fallout from it, crime and anti-social behaviour had become a part of daily life in Middlesbrough. Over the course of the month, our team has spent time in the town, meeting residents, and following police as they try and target offenders. What they found was a community scared at times, but also resilient and determined not to abandon the place they live. --------------------------------- • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more storie
