School pupils are back at the barricades in France for the biggest day of nationwide protests so-far, with 1,800 facilities said to be closed by the demonstrations. More than a quarter of a million people marched in cities across France on Tuesday in support of school pupils demanding more education funding, increasing pressure on the government of outgoing President Emmanuel Macron. Police fired tear gas to control crowds in the French capital and elsewhere, with the widespread use of riot-control weapons against teenagers fuelling defiance and angering some parents and teachers. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@itvnews?lang=en Follow ITV News on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on X: https://twitter.com/itvnews
