The World Health Organization says it has contacted authorities in Russia, after the suspected death of a lab employee from pneumonic plague. The UN health agency also says the case poses "very low" risk outside of the country. The woman, 28, worked at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute of Siberia and the Far East and died last week in a hospital in Shelekhov, a town just outside Irkutsk, according to local media. ITV News Science Correspondent Martin Stew explains whether this could lead to the next covid. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@itvnews?lang=en Follow ITV News on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on X: https://twitter.com/itvnews
