With measles cases in New York state nearly double what they were last year, Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday declared a State Disaster Emergency. That will allow healthcare professionals to to take additional steps to get more New Yorkers vaccinated and tested. So far this year, there have been seven confirmed cases in the city and 101 statewide, more than double last year's total of 48. The year before that, there were 29.
