Saint-Denis Mayor Bally Bagayoko was treated with saline solution after he was exposed to tear gas during demonstrations in Paris. He was seen shielding some of the protesters from police. He’s called for an immediate de-escalation and political dialogue over the police handling of student protests in France. Police used tear gas to control crowds in Paris as more than 250,000 marched across the country on October 6 in support of school pupils demanding more education funding.
