The Yemen war is escalating as the Houthis intensify attacks on Saudi Arabia amid a major Saudi-backed offensive along Yemen’s Red Sea coast. Houthi forces have claimed missile and drone strikes on Saudi military targets, while Riyadh says its air defences have intercepted incoming missiles. The latest escalation comes as Pakistani troops and military capabilities are being deployed in Saudi Arabia under the Makkah defence pact with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. This has raised fresh questions over whether Pakistan could become more directly exposed to Houthi attacks. Claims of casualties at Saudi bases remain contested and should be treated with caution. As the Houthis retaliate and Saudi-backed Yemeni forces push toward strategic Red Sea positions, the conflict threatens to widen across the region.
