It has been three years since Hamas and other militant groups launched an attack on Israel, killing at least 1,200 people and taking 250 people hostage. In the immediate aftermath, Israel declared war against Hamas and began a rapid bombing campaign in the Gaza Strip. Over 74,000 Palestinians have been killed in the three-year onslaught, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, though the number might be much higher. Hunger and health continue to be a struggle within the enclave. And while life has become increasingly fragile for Palestinians, Israel has increased its security apparatus. Despite a peace deal signed in October 2025, Israel has not completely let up its military operations in Gaza.
