New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing criticism from fellow Democrats over his statement marking the third anniversary of Hamas' October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. While Mamdani condemned Hamas' war crimes and mourned the victims, he also accused Israel of carrying out an ongoing genocide in Gaza and criticised continued U.S. military support for Israel. Democratic lawmakers Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Josh Gottheimer, Daniel Goldman and Jared Moskowitz criticised the statement, arguing that the anniversary should have focused on the victims of Hamas' attack. The controversy comes amid Mamdani's longstanding differences with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and follows a separate confrontation with pro-Palestinian protesters at a Manhattan vigil. #zohranmamdani #mamdani #democrats #israel #gaza #october7 #hamas #newyork #uspolitics #worldnews Times Of India (TOI) Is The Largest Selling English Daily In The World.
