Kemi Badenoch pledged at the Tory conference in Birmingham to scrap inheritance tax on family homes and let couples leave an extra £1m tax-free, with abolition an ambition "as soon as we can afford it". The Tories estimate it will cost about £6bn a year. She also ruled out a Reform pact, saying "we are not uniting with that", and called Burnham a "Paddington Bear prime minister".
