World Mental Health Day is this Saturday, and the tech nonprofit Project Healthy Minds is helping raise awareness with its annual gala and festival in New York City. The 2026 World Mental Health Day Festival is a free event featuring movement classes, interactive workshops and conversations with speakers including multi-platinum singer, songwriter, actress and activist Becky G and NBA champion and New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns. The founder and CEO of Project Healthy Minds, Phil Schermer, joins Morning Joe to discuss the event. Also joining the discussion is award-winning television creator Bill Lawrence, who will be honored with the Storyteller of the Year award at a private fundraising gala. The award recognizes his work on shows including Scrubs, Ted Lasso and Shrinking, which explore mental health with nuance and authenticity.
