The Chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Joergen Watne Frydnes, announces the winner of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo.   Created by Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel in 1895 in his will, the Peace Prize goes to the person "who has done the most or best to advance fellowship among nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies, and the establishment and ‌promotion of peace congresses".   The favorites this year include Pope Leo, the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice and Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
