After nearly 10 months at sea, the USS Abraham Lincoln has returned to its home port in San Diego, California, bringing an extended and demanding deployment to an end. The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier and its strike group spent more than 260 consecutive days without a port call, according to the Pentagon, while supporting military operations against Iran. The deployment involved sustained combat missions, long periods away from families and significant logistical challenges. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth outlined the scale of the carrier’s operations, including thousands of combat sorties and hundreds of Tomahawk missile launches. The Navy also reported eight suicide attempts among sailors in the carrier strike group during the deployment, underscoring concerns about the strain of prolonged operations at sea. Now back in San Diego, the sailors are reuniting with their loved ones as the wider U.S.-Iran conflict continues to affect regional security and global energy markets. #ussab
