MS NOW has learned the Department of Justice is seeking to indict Cassidy Hutchinson, the former White House aide who testified before Congress about Trump's actions leading up to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Punchbowl News first reported that the DOJ is seeking a federal criminal indictment of Hutchinson on charges that she lied to Congress about the events surrounding the attack. A source familiar with the matter tells MS NOW that the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division brought evidence to a federal grand jury earlier this week and is expected to present more evidence and witnesses later this month. In April, when MS NOW learned Hutchinson was being investigated, The New York Times reported some DOJ officials had been skeptical from the onset about whether there is a viable criminal case against her. The New York Times investigative reporter Michael Schmidt joins Morning Joe to discuss the latest. MS NOW: My Source for News, Opinion, and the World. » Subscribe to MS NOW
