The talk reflects on the expectations that often come with growing up in a family where a particular professional path is already established. Drawing from his childhood and personal experiences, the speaker explores how people tend to assume that children will naturally follow the careers of their parents or siblings, and how these assumptions can influence the choices they make. He also examines the idea that personal struggles are deeply individual; what may seem insignificant to someone else can carry real weight for the person experiencing it. The talk looks at questioning inherited expectations and recognising that an individual’s path does not necessarily have to mirror the one set by those around them. Mr. Nirbhay is an advocate practicing before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), whose journey extends far beyond the courtroom. His journey across law, media, and running challenges the conventional idea that a professional identity has to fit into a single box
